Residential wind power is now easier than ever to find for residents of Texas, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and California as Flagstaff, Arizona-based Southwest Windpower recently announced that it would be selling its personal wind turbine Skystream 3.7 at select Home Depot stores in these states.

Designed to work in low winds, the compact, quiet Skystream 3.7 produces up to 400 kw hours of clean electricity each month and is designed for homes and businesses connected to the grid. Although price varies by location, the cost of the turbine plus installation is estimated at around $6,000. Local, state and federal rebates, including the 30 percent federal tax credit, could reduce the price for interested customers.

Although the program is limited to a select number of Home Depot stores at the moment, Southwest Windpower hopes to expand the program to “other windy locations across the United States” in the future.
