Who knew making friends with a falcon was so easy. This small falcon, a Merlin, just came up and land on this CU photographer’s husband. He kept coming back to see him as well. This is an interesting habit for a little falcon.
Back in medieval Europe, Merlins were popular for falconry. Today, they are less frequently used because of conservation efforts. If you are interested in learning more about Merlin falcons, visit the Merlin Falcon Foundation.
But if you are just interested in falcons and would like to see one that close, falconry might be of interest. It’s not every day a falcon just comes up and lands on your arm like this one. With some falconry experience, a falcon could be in reach. Check out, Introduction to Falconry to learn more.

Keep submitting your photos every week to the CU photo-sharing site. Each week the Photo of the Week is taken from that week’s submissions. You have to submit every week for a chance to be the Photo of the Week!
So many great photos made their way to the CU Photo-Sharing site this week. Did yours? I would love to see them, and so would other CU users!
