When I first saw this photo, I thought of the song “Walk Like a Man” by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It’s a picture that makes you look twice to understand what it is, exactly, you’re seeing. But once the recognition of duck’s feet dawns in your mind, you can appreciate how funny this photo is.
The texture really comes out in the photo. The sharp, hard edges of rocks on the surface. The rough patterned skin of the duck’s feet. The soft down of the white feathers. There are nice places where parts of textures are bathed in sunlight. All these elements come together in a silly, slightly odd photo of a duck. And this duck is hanging out at Beaver Lake.
Thanks to CU photographer Jensix for the duck feet photo! Check out My Gallery for more fowl photography.
And don’t forget to submit your photos to the CU photo-sharing site for a chance to be the Photo of the Week. The winning photo is taken from that week’s submissions only. Oh, and your photo could also be featured in the magazine sometime!
Remember to fill out the captions and give your gallery a name all its own. The more we know about an image, the more we can take from it.
