Need to grab some wine to go with dinner tonight? Don’t bypass boxed and packaged wines! Try a new wine that is lighter on you, the environment and your pocketbook.
Instead of a heavy glass bottle, CalNaturale‘s wine comes in a Tetra-Pak carton that resembles an oversized juice box.
The Tetra-Pak production process leaves half the carbon footprint of traditional glass bottles, cutting back on greenhouse gasses, waste and embodied energy. Made from recycled materials, Tetra-Paks are much more lightweight and durable than your usual glass bottle.
Available in Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, CalNaturale’s wines are made from certified-organic grapes, meaning the grapes were grown without using pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. CalNaturale’s Cabernet Sauvignon is made in Paso Robles, California. It has an aroma of spicy black currants with the tastes of plums, cherries, cassis and a hint of oak. Rich and full-bodied, it pairs best with meals that feature more powerful flavors, such as red meats or hearty mushrooms. CalNaturale’s Chardonnay comes from Mendocino, California, and is light and fruity, with notes of apples, pears, vanilla and a hint of citrus. Try it alone or have it with something light, such as fish or vegetables.
Smaller and more lightweight than a traditional bottle, CalNaturale wines are easily transportable and perfect for any outdoor occasion. Re-closeable to prevent messes, CalNaturale wines are convenient and easy to toss in your picnic basket–no worrying about breaking and spilling. Plus you don’t have to remember to bring along the bottle opener!
The CalNaturale Tetra-Pak cartons come in two sizes: 500 ML and 1 L. The 500 ML is approximately three glasses, and is $7. The 1 L size measures out to six glasses, and costs $13. CalNaturale is available at natural food stores in select areas.
