With rising costs of fuel and the growing urge to reduce our carbon footprint, innovations in prefab home construction have ignited. Prefabulous World (Abrams, 2014) by Sherri Koones showcases 50 homes from around the globe providing endless possibilities in prefab design.
Situated in a charming pocket neighborhood in Concord, Massachusetts, the Concord Riverwalk Cottage looks like your typical home. But this 1,500-square-foot prefab home is far from typical. Developer Daniel Gainsboro wanted to build 10 green homes in a pocket community—neighborhoods designed to create strong communities with a small carbon footprint. With a focus on quality, energy-efficient homes, Gainsboro sold the first eight in just three months.
