Crystal Stevens
FLOURISHCrystal Stevens lives along the bluffs of the mighty Mississippi River in Godfrey, Illinois, with her husband and two children. She’s an author, artist and art teacher, folk herbalist, regenerative farmer, and permaculturist. New Society Publishers has released three of her books: Grow Create Inspire, Worms at Work, and Your Edible Yard. She speaks at conferences such as the Mid-America Organic Association conference, the Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference, and Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Festivals. For seven years, MOTHER EARTH NEWS FAIRS has welcomed her as a presenter across the United States (and she has been teaching a workshop series on resilient living for more than a decade). With her husband, Eric, she co-founded FLOURISH, which encompasses a farm, plant nursery, apothecary, design services, educational programming, and dozens of workshops throughout each season. She’s an instructor for the Permaculture Women’s Guild and an adjunct faculty instructor at St. Louis Community College at Meramec, and she teaches classes at the Missouri Botanical Garden, at various garden clubs, and through Gateway Greening and the Nature Institute. Her work has appeared in Permaculture Magazine, Mother Earth News, Taproot Magazine, Grit, Medium, Over Grow the System, elephant journal, The Healthy Planet, and Feast Magazine. With Alex Queathem, Stevens co-founded Tend & Flourish School of Botanicals, a six-month Herbal Foundations Program. She received her Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) and is a PDC instructor.
