Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon honey or real maple syrup
  • Zest of 1 organic lemon
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon anise seeds
  • 1 to 2 ounces shaved dark chocolate, plus more for garnish if desired
  • 1 cup chilled ricotta
  • 2 tablespoons crushed pistachios (optional, for the topping)

Directions

  • Mix the honey, lemon zest, lemon juice, anise, and chocolate into the cup of chilled ricotta. Stir until smooth. Adjust any ingredient to taste. Top with the crushed pistachios and more shaved chocolate, if desired.
    2. Serve it with cookies or biscuits — or ripe fruit (strawberries, apricots, and plums lend a nice contrast).
