Apple expert and all-around good food guy Gary Paul Nabhan has reviewed the new revised edition of Old Southern Apples: A Comprehensive History and Description of Varieties for Collectors, Growers, and Fruit Enthusiasts by Creighton Lee Calhoun, Jr. The book became an indispensable reference to apple growers back in 1995, and the new expanded edition describes more than 1,800 apple varieties that either
originated in the South or were widely grown there before 1928. Check out Nabhan’s review: A Masterpiece Written in Our Own Era.
