Hold on to your harvests, home-grower enthusiasts, because an exciting event is cropping up this September! The National Heirloom Exposition in Santa Rosa, Calif., will host an array of natural food events, including the largest display of heirloom vegetables in history. Called “The World’s Pure Food Fair,” this exhibition is occurring on the calendar shortly before our own MOTHER EARTH NEWS FAIR.
From Sept. 13 to 15, gardeners, farmers, school groups and the general public are invited to attend the “World’s Fair” of the heirloom industry. The National Heirloom Exposition will host events such as:
- The largest exhibition of heirloom fruits and vegetables in history! Come immerse your senses and experience thousands of varieties of produce. Gardeners, farmers, chefs and anyone interested in learning about heirloom and local varieties are encouraged to see this amazing display.
The National Heirloom Exposition will be strategically located on the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Sonoma County. The county is bordered by Mendocino County and Marin County, both of which are GE-free counties. The event will be a significant platform for creating awareness and educating the public on issues related to GMOs. Not only can you attend, you can participate as well. Whether selling your products as a vendor in The Trade Show, entering your heritage poultry or animals in The Poultry and Livestock Show, or entering heirloom vegetables in the exhibition, there is an opportunity for you to take part. Also, all proceeds from The National Heirloom Exposition will be given back to the community to help various school gardens and real food education programs.
