Reader Contribution by Staff

If you’re interested in growing corn or plant breeding in general, check out these two helpful videos from the <a title=”Northern Plains Sustainable Ag Society” href=”http://npsas.org/” target=”_blank”>Northern Plains Sustainable Ag Society Farm Breeding Club about breeding your own corn. The first video, “Planting Your Own Corn Breeding Nursery,” explains the techniques for planning and planting a corn breeding nursery. The instructions are well-suited for the amateur home growing or farmer and the student corn-breeder. The video shows how to make straight rows, neat aisles, seed correctly, and properly mark pollination bags.

The second video, “Keeping OP Corn Using Hand Pollination,” explains how to maintain an open-pollinated variety of corn using chain sibbing with hand pollinations.
