Get to know Erin Harwood and Eloyce O’Connor of the Garden Delights CSA and Herb Farm
What are you going to speak about at the MOTHER EARTH NEWS FAIR?
We’ll be talking about simple herbal pet remedies including how to improve your pets’ health and well-being the natural way with herbs. We’ll discuss simple herbal salves and washes for minor cuts and scrapes, and how to make your own basic cleansers from common household ingredients with pets’ special skin pH levels in mind. We’ll include some demos and have a chance for people to sniff, smell, and touch products they can make at home with simple ingredients.
We will be at the Puyallup Fair on Saturday June 4th, from 4-5 pm on the Herb Companion Stage.
What are you most looking forward to sharing with FAIR attendees?
We are looking forward to sharing our ideas about how great herbs can be – even for caring for your pets!
What are you most looking forward to at the FAIR?
We are eager to meet other herb enthusiasts and like minded individuals who are interested in a sustainable and self sufficient lifestyle. We love to share ideas, experiences, and knowledge with others.
Tell us about your background with your particular topic.
We have been gardeners for more than 30 years together, and avid users and experimenters with herbs for more than 10 years. We’re both teachers at heart, and have only started melding our passion for teaching and sharing ideas and experiences with others, with our love of the many uses of herbs and gardening.
Why should fairgoers attend your presentation?
We are a couple of fun gals who like to interact with our audience, have them share their ideas and experiences, as well as share our own. We feel that the best classes or workshops or talks are when the audience joins in too! We also try to give everyone at least one good nugget of info to take home with them – but we hope they get a lot of great info when they attend!
How will you get to the Fair, and how far do you have to travel?
We’ll travel together and may even carpool with a few other friends. We will travel over 130 miles to get to the FAIR and will likely make plans for our growing business on the way!
What advice do you have for attendees?
Be open to new experiences and people – you might be surprised at what you learn!
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could have only one thing, what would you choose?
Seeds!
Thanks, Erin and Eloyce. We’ll see you at the FAIR!
