At some point, most chicken flocks need to be expanded or replenished through the integration of new birds. However, poultry operate on a social hierarchy, and integration must be done slowly and carefully so that both the new and original birds remain happy and healthy.
New birds should be similar in size to the existing birds and quarantined for at least 30 days to ensure they are in good health before introduction. Once this is done, the new birds can slowly be introduced to the existing flock in a variety of ways.
