The book provides step-by-step instructions for each arrangement and offers tips on how readers can make the arrangements their own. The following is from Chapter 3, “Summer.”
I love how old-fashioned this arrangement feels. I imagine someone centuries ago foraging and creating something like this for their home. It still feels relevant today!
Plants
- Sweet clover
Supplies
- Floral shears
- Waterproof tape
- Pitcher
Forage
- Cut two handfuls of sweet clover, and one handful of wispy wild grasses and Queen Anne’s lace.
Prepare
- Trim the stems at an angle, and put them in clean water so they can drink prior to being arranged.
- Place waterproof tape across the top of the pitcher in a grid to help the stems have somewhere to rest. Fill the pitcher with water.
Arrange
- Create an inverted triangle as your base. I used the sweet clover because it fills the space without weighing down the arrangement. Then add some pieces of the grass while leaving the blades on the stem. I love how they pop against the sweet clover. Finish by adding some blooming Queen Anne’s lace, creating high and low points peppered throughout the arrangement.
Display and Care
- This arrangement would be just darling in a kitchen nook. Refresh the water every few days.
