Background: The Minnesota land Michelle grew up on was wild and lush, followed by white and barren. She learned so much from this and the farmland she later lived on in Sweden. Health issues in college lead her to health food stores in the early 1990s (there weren’t many!). From there, she’s been on a tasty journey of learning about food in all its many forms. Diving deep into local food as part of her work to earn a BA in Mass Communications and PR — paired with her desire to help local farmers spread their good food news — lead Michelle to launch her online presence at ForksintheDirt.com. She supports local farmers with interviews, social media promotion, and coordinating winter farmers markets.
