Leda Meredith, Sustainable Food Systems Educator
Place of Residence: Brooklyn, New York
Background: Leda Meredith has a certification in Ethnobotany from the New York Botanical Garden and teaches wild edible plant and mushroom classes there and for Brooklyn Botanic Garden and other organizations. She also lives part of the year in Costa Rica.
Leda is the author of seven books including Northeast Foraging: 120 Wild and Flavorful Edibles from Beach Plums to Wineberries, Pickling Everything: Foolproof Recipes for Sour, Sweet, Spicy, Savory, Crunchy, Tangy Treats, and The Skillful Forager: Essential Techniques for Responsible Foraging and Making the Most of Your Wild Edibles.
Current Projects: Leda is working on a new book entitled Nothing Wasted that focuses on reducing home food waste and delicious ways to use food scraps that are usually thrown out.
Other Fun Facts: Leda started foraging when she was about three years old. Her Greek great-grandmother was her first wild edible plants instructor.
