Jonathan Sadowski, Stay-at-Home, Bread-Baking Dad
Name: Jonathan Sadowski
Occupation: Jonathan has worked with at-risk youth as a special education teacher for seven years. He is currently a stay at home dad who loves hassling his children (ages 4.5, 2, and newborn) and experimenting in the kitchen. He has been writing a blog since September, 2012, and has since become a writer for a website dedicated to attracting and retaining young people to New Hampshire (see links below).
Place of Residence: Concord, New Hampshire
Background and Personal History: Jonathan was born in suburban Boston and had the typical suburban upbringing. He graduated from University of Massachusetts – Amherst with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a focus on Management and Economics. He completed a two-year commitment as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bulgaria, and upon return, established a career working with at-risk youth in Western Massachusetts and Central New Hampshire.
Carrying the lessons learned in the villages of Bulgaria, Jonathan has been on a quest to find the freshest, most natural means of feeding himself and his family. It was only a matter of time before he and bread-making fell head-over-heels for each other. Inspired by his hosts during a WWOOOFing trip to Quebec province, Canada, Jonathan began his study of the best and easiest way to get fresh bread on the table. He, his wife and children enjoy the fruits of his labor and experimentation in Concord, NH.
Current Projects: Jonathan is preparing to launch his own artisan bread company. The son of two entrepreneurs, the itch finally got the better of him and he will share his successes, failures, trials, and tribulations with everyone here on his Mother Earth News blog and at the farmers markets and fairs of Central New Hampshire. He is also looking forward to the opportunity to travel the Northeast U.S. and Eastern Canada with his family in search of new and exciting recipes, cooking techniques, and tools people use to get their bread to the market and table.
Other Fun Facts: During his high school years, Jonathan was a concessions vendor at Fenway Park. During a “FanFest,” he sold a hot dog while leaning against the scoreboard on the Green Monster.
