Background: Jonathan is a freelance journalist, having covered the environment and outdoors for Outside, Backpacker, REI, Louisiana Sportsman, and a host of other publications. In 2016, he published his debut novel, Between the Levees.
Current Projects: In summer 2019, Jonathan wrapped up nearly two years of traveling around farms throughout North America as an intern. He broke ground on a farm of his own that July in Frozard, Louisiana, called Le Potager d’Acadiana. He grows using no-till, bio-intensive agricultural methods without harmful chemicals. Jonathan brings local food to his vibrant, multilingual community by offering services in Louisiana French. He began focusing on cultivating local medicinal herbs traditionally used by healers, called “traiteurs.”
