A Brief Company History:

Founded in 2008 by lifelong gardener and food activist Carol Koury, Sow True Seed provides open-pollinated, heirloom and organic vegetable, herb, and flower seeds to enthusiastic home gardeners and small market farmers.

Who We Are:

Sow True Seed is motivated by Carol’s vision of empowering individuals to become more self-sustainable and less dependent on multi-national food corporations which may not have our best interests in mind. This is woven into the fabric of the organization and everything its employees do. The humble staff of dedicated individuals is passionate about the work of promoting seed sovereignty and food independence.

As Sow True Seed begins its seventh year, they are thrilled to bring you even more varieties of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds as well as new seasonal starts, bulbs, and tubers to help diversify your garden. Sow True Seed is based in the glorious mountains of Southern Appalachia – home to a temperate rain forest and one of the most biologically diverse areas of North America!

They are proud to work with farmers in our Katuah Bioregion who ensure the survival of heirloom varieties that would otherwise become extinct. Thank you for growing with us!

Our Intentions

Sow True Seed operates with a social and environmental consciousness to support home growers, small farmers and open-pollinated varieties. The company questions the genetic modification of organisms and actively works to create better access to healthy food in a regenerative, sustainable and inclusive environment.

In 2015, Sow True Seed is stating its intentions as a responsible company. This means that employees are taking their beliefs and convictions and putting them into action through the work they do each day. They encourage you, as businesses and individuals, to do the same.
